Childhood
Janice Elizabeth (Harper) Berchelmann gave birth to Gregory (Greg) on September 30th, 1977 in
St. Louis Missouri. He is the middle child, between younger sister Susan Louise and older brother
William Joseph.

Greg lived his first 18 or so years in Sunset Hills, Missouri, which is a suburb of St. Louis.
Much of his childhood was spent attending school in the Lindbergh School District,
playing baseball, or just spending time with family.
Middle Years
Greg's father, August Joseph Berchelmann, coached many of Greg's summer teams through his high school years.
During high school, however, father was pitted against son when Greg's father accepted a position
of assistant baseball coach at a rival high school. It seems that the saying "father knows best"
holds true even in baseball...
After high school Greg attended Amherst College, in Amherst,
Massachusetts, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in computer science. Greg also competed
in Division III baseball during his stay at Amherst.
Greg met Kathleen Knag, his future wife, during his sophomore year at Amherst. She is a native
of Connecticut, and graduated from Amherst in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in Neuroscience.

Following graduation from Amherst in 1999, Greg moved to New Britain, Connecticut to be near
Kathleen. Greg and Kathleen were then married on the Amherst College campus on August 12th, 2000.
Greg and Kathleen lived in Farmington, Connecticut for the remainder of Kathleen's medical training.
Greg was employed as a programmer at Advest, Inc. in Hartford,
Connecticut.
Greg and Kathleen then moved to St. Louis, Missouri during the spring of 2003. Kathleen began her pediatric
residency at St. Louis Children's Hospital while Greg began
working as a contractor at Anheuser-Busch. As the end of 2003
came to a close, Greg and Kathleen had settled in Des Peres, Missouri
